Matt Le Tissier has taken aim at Liverpool on Twitter on Sunday, stating they should let Philippe Coutinho join Barcelona so he doesn’t try and force a move and that he deserves a transfer “to a club like that.”
The Southampton legend was of course hitting back at the Reds after all the speculation regarding the Merseysiders and Saints centre-back Virgil van Dijk.
The Dutchman is currently training on his own with manager Mauricio Pellegrino confirming that he wanted a transfer away from the Hampshire-based club.
Liverpool have been one of the most heavily speculated next destinations for the centre-back star and Southampton did of course report them earlier in the summer for tapping up, which the Reds publicly apologised for.
But, that hasn’t stopped a number of pundits and supporters associated with Liverpool urging Southampton to let their captain depart for Anfield.
Now, on Sunday, Le Tissier hit back at those comments himself via his personal Twitter account, referencing the recent speculation regarding the Reds’ own star Coutinho and La Liga giants Barcelona.
Hope Liverpool do the right thing and let Coutinho join Barca so he doesn't have to go on strike, he deserves a move to a club like that ????

When Le Tissier was playing it was frowned upon if a player angled for a move, unlike today and he spent 16 years at Southampton during his professional career.
However, in this day in age clubs have struggled to keep hold of their stars and that is especially apparent for the Saints, who have let many move to Merseyside in recent years.
In other Liverpool news, the Reds have been offered this 30-year-old international.
