Blaise Matuidi has been ruled out of Juventus’ Champions League clash against Tottenham on Tuesday night, according to a report.
Football Italia claim that France midfielder Matuidi is out “indefinitely” with a thigh strain sustained in his side’s Serie A win over Sassuolo eight days ago
It is said that Massimo Allegri is making plans for the first-leg showdown in Turin at the Juventus Stadium without the 30-year-old mainstay.
Speaking in the aftermath of the win against Sassulo, Allegri said to Mediaset Premium, as quoted by the Football Italia website: “Matuidi won’t be there against Tottenham. I think it is a muscular problem.”
Matuidi, who has been capped 62 times by France, has been a key player for Juventus this season, making 32 appearances in all competitions.
He joined last summer from Paris Saint-Germain, where he had scored 33 times and provided 30 assists from 295 appearances in all competitions.
Juventus are second in Serie A behind Napoli, while Tottenham are fourth in the Premier League, a long way adrift of leaders Manchester City despite consecutive outstanding displays against Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal.
