Matz Sels sends ‘hard’ Nottingham Forest message for crucial FA Cup tie v Man City

Matz Sels has taken to social media ahead of a massive FA Cup semi-final clash between Nottingham Forest and Man City.

Nuno Espirito Santo, who Forest are trying to tie down to a new contract, has an opportunity to lift silverware in his first full season at The City Ground, preparing to travel to Wembley Stadium on Sunday, 27 April.

While a top-five finish will also be important to the Reds, it is not every day that this team will be given the chance to play in an FA Cup final, with Pep Guardiola‘s rocky-form Man City team standing in the way.

There is no denying that Sels has experienced an incredible campaign in between the sticks, with no other Premier League goalkeeper keeping more clean sheets, and he still has a vital role to play.

With the exciting building amongst the Forest supporters, the goalkeeper has taken to social media with an important message before the team travel to Wembley Stadium, fighting for a spot in the final.

Taking to Instagram (25 April), Sels wrote: “We keep working hard for moments like these,” with praise and goalkeeper glove emojis.

Football Insider verdict

There is no telling exactly what this current Forest team could achieve right now, but that could definitely all change once the summer transfer window opens at the end of the season.

Morgan Gibbs-White is being heavily linked with Man City, and with Murillo tipped to leave at the end of the campaign, Espirito Santo might be left with quite the challenge of rebuilding the squad.

While Chris Wood has been an incredible addition to the squad, it is unlikely that, at 33 years of age, he will have another standout season like this one, meaning money needs to be splashed this season.

Of course, Evangelos Marinakis‘ ambitions have seen supporters become very hopeful that Champions League football could not only help keep hold of stars, but attract new ones to The City Ground.

Any transfer ideas will need to be put on hold for now, though, with a spot in the FA Cup final at stake and qualification to the Champions League also on the cards for Nottingham Forest.
