Mavropanos reacts to Niclas Fullkrug message amid West Ham uncertainty
Niclas Fullkrug has sent a message following his goalscoring performance against Everton amid uncertainty over his West Ham United future.
The Germany international only arrived at the London Stadium last season after netting 15 goals during his final season with Borussia Dortmund and another two at Euro 2024.
However, things have not gone to plan for Fullkrug, with injury seriously disrupting his time with the Hammers so far.
Fullkrug was restricted to just 18 Premier League appearances in 2024/25, registering just three goals and two assists.
Fullkrug sends message after winner vs Everton
Fullkrug has, at least, made a decent start to pre-season, coming off the bench to score his first goal of the summer to deliver a 2-1 win over Everton in Chicago on Wednesday night.
The veteran also contested 14 duels, made three fouls, won two fouls and managed 31 touches in just 45 minutes, proving a nuisance for Everton’s defenders (Flashscore).
After Wednesday’s encounter at Soldier Field — in which he was given the Man of the Match award — Fullkrug took to Instagram to celebrate.
“That felt good,” Fullkrug captioned his post with football and bicep emojis, adding: “Lots to build on.”
Dinos Mavropanos, Emerson Palmieri and Edson Alvarez were among the West Ham teammates to drop Fullkrug a like — with the former’s future at the London Stadium looking uncertain.
West Ham need to keep hold of Fullkrug despite struggles
Football Insider verdict
Alongside Mavropanos, Fullkrug has also been linked with a summer exit from West Ham.
However, the fact remains that following the departures of Michail Antonio and Danny Ings, he is the only senior centre-forward available to Graham Potter right now.
Quality No.9s don’t come cheap, so West Ham will have to spend big if they want a new goalscorer this summer. And it’s clear they need to do just that after finishing 14th in the Premier League last season, with only Man United, Everton and the bottom three scoring fewer than their 46 goals.

And even if they achieve that, they will need a reliable back-up option to provide depth and competition.
Despite struggling in his first season at West Ham, Fullkrug brings huge experience and pedigree to the table, while his physical approach would offer a different dimension from the bench.
The sale of Mohammed Kudus only intensified West Ham’s need for attacking signings, so Potter is likely in no mood to see Fullkrug depart as well.
