Max Wober: Leeds star backed to agree move after shining at Euros – pundit
Max Wober’s future will depend on whether he has a good Euro 2024 showing as well as a strong pre-season with Leeds United.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Tottenham and Aston Villa defender Alan Hutton has made the analysis following Wober’s loan with Borussia Monchengladbach – who are reportedly keen to retain his services despite an inconsistent season – though Leeds are seeking a fee in excess of £12m as the club look to meet PSR ruling in the coming weeks.
The 26-year-old has said he is currently concentrating solely on Austria, with whom he is competing at the European Championships in Germany.
Wober future with Leeds United to depend on pre-season and Euros
Hutton says Wober’s future will depend on how this summer pans out, claiming he may have to return to Thorp Arch for pre-season training with Leeds United to put himself in the frame for a move.
“He went out on loan didn’t he, it may not have worked out,” Hutton said.
“It comes down to options. You have a good Euros, things might happen and doors might open for you, or whatever.
“He’s probably going to have to come back and have a good pre-season [at Leeds], and really assess what he’s going to do moving forward.

“He’s obviously got something – he’s played international football with a good team.
“He’s definitely got ability, but it’s a case of seeing how the Euros goes and then pre-season when he’s back at Leeds.”
