McAvennie 'incredible' Rangers verdict
Rangers can still reach the Europa League final despite a semi-final first leg loss to RB Leipzig.
That’s according to former Celtic hitman Frank McAvennie, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about Thursday’s (28 April) clash in Germany.
A late Angelino volley proved to be the difference despite a staunch defensive effort from Rangers.
Rangers also lost 1-0 to Braga in the first leg of the quart-finals before they turned it around at Ibrox.
McAvennie claims history could repeat itself next week.
“They sat everyone behind the ball and tried to frustrate RB Leipzig,” McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“You can see what they were trying to do but it didn’t quite work out for them.
“What a strike from Angelino, you can’t take anything away from that but it was a gut punch for Rangers.
“The important thing for Rangers is that they are still in the game, it’s all to play for next week.
“They are taking them back to Ibrox and we have seen what they can do there in Europe.
“They went through after losing to Braga in the first leg and they beat Dortmund there so it’s not over.
“I’m not saying they will make it to the Europa League final but they could.
“That would be an incredible thing for them, an incredible thing to see.”
The Gers will look to overturn the one-goal deficit next Thursday (5 May).
Before that though, Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side face an Old Firm at Celtic Park on Sunday (1 May).
