McAvennie: SPL clubs 'absolutely fuming' with 'embarrassing' Rangers - 'everyone is pointing and laughing'
Frank McAvennie has slammed Rangers’ “embarrassing” decision to keep fighting the SPFL over their sponsorship with Cinch.
The former Celtic hitman, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, predicts the other Premiership clubs are “fuming” with the Gers.
On 1 August, The Scottish Sun claimed Rangers are “at war” with the league over their sponsorship deal with online car dealership Cinch.
Rangers claim SFA rules mean they can refuse league sponsors that clash with existing deals which, in this case, is Douglas Park’s own used car business.
The latest was that on 21 October, Park won a court battle against the SPFL which will allow his firm to take part in court proceedings.
McAvennie is baffled at why Rangers are continuing to fight the league and slammed the club culture of “causing trouble”.

“Who do they think they are?” McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“I just don’t understand, the other league clubs must be absolutely fuming.
“The SFA should be clamping down on things like this. It’s ridiculous.
“The fans don’t want to see it either. The club has this culture of ‘it’s us against the world’.
“It’s not. It’s just embarrassing. Everyone is pointing and laughing.
“Just do what you are told and use the sponsor the league has agreed a deal with.
“If they don’t pack this in, who will want to sponsor the Premiership?
“No one will want to if one of the biggest clubs in the division is refusing to wear their logo.
“It’s damaging and they need to stop.”
