McAvennie: This is what Young will do for Grealish and McGinn after Aston Villa deal agreed
Frank McAvennie insists Ashley Young will be able to bring invaluable experience to Aston Villa.
The former Villain, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, also praised the wide man’s versatility.
On Friday (18th June) Villa confirmed Young had re-signed for Villa after a spell with Inter Milan.
Young, 35, played for Villa between 2007 and 2011 before leaving to join Manchester United.
He recently spent a year and a half at the San Siro and made 26 league appearances as Inter won the Serie A last season.
McAvennie claims you can’t buy the experience and winning mentality that Young will bring to the dressing room.

“Is he still playing? He must be about the same age as me,” McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“He looks after himself doesn’t he? I don’t know where they are going to play him.
“He’s useful at right back, right midfield, right wing and central midfield.
“It’s only a one-year deal so he might be on a good deal. He can help Jack Grealish and John McGinn.
“It’s more experience. He won’t be able to get down the pitch like he used to but he can offer something.
“Something in the dressing room. He’s a winner as well, that will come with him. You can’t put a price on that for the young boys.”
Young scored 38 goals in 190 appearances for Villa during his first spell at the club.
He joined the Villains from Watford in the winter of 2007.
