McAvennie wowed by what he’s spotted from Rodgers at Celtic – ‘I’ve never seen Postecoglou do this’
Brendan Rodgers will be a better Celtic manager than Ange Postecoglou.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former hoops striker Frank McAvennie has backed Rodgers to be a big success with the current squad of players at his disposal.
Speaking in his first interview since his return to Parkhead, the 50-year-old detailed a lunch he had in Majorca with current captain Callum McGregor.
Rodgers said the skipper helped him understand the current position of the squad, how hungry the group are and that they are ready to keep pushing forward.
McAvennie insisted that although there is a different man captaining the side, fans can still expect the same impressive results under Rodgers the second time around.
“He had Scott Brown who was an incredible captain, Callum is a completely different character from him,” he told Football Insider.
“I watched a game when Brendan was in charge and he changed formation three times, that was something Ange never did. They must work on that all the time.
“Brendan has got that brain, intelligence and ability to get it through to the players. When he does that he will sort them out at the back and with the players and pace that we have got, I think it is a great combination.”

The Northern Irishman won three trebles during his first sting with the Scottish Champions.
He returns to the Glasgow giants off the back of another domestic treble and with guaranteed Champions League group stage football.
