McLeish makes 'incredible' McCrorie claim after what he's seen at Rangers
Alex McLeish has suggested Robby McCrorie could emulate Leeds United’s Illan Meslier after getting a chance in the Rangers starting XI.
The former Rangers boss, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted the 23-year-old “could be incredible” after his impressive start to life in the senior side.
McCrorie kept two clean sheets in four days in the draw versus Alashkert and the win over Celtic.
He came into the side after senior goalkeepers Allan McGregor and Jon McLaughlin were forced to sit out.
The youngster has spent much of his fledgling career out on loan.
He has had temporary spells with Livingston, Queen of the South, Berwick Rangers and Greenock Morton in recent seasons.

However, McLeish admitted McCrorie’s displays bode extremely well for the future.
“I thought it was a great performance from the kid,” he told Football Insider‘s Russell Edge.
“He slotted in and looked like he was playing on adrenaline – especially for that Kyogo chance, he looked so alert.
“I thought it was a great baptism for him. We often laud the progress of the Leeds goalkeeper – who is very young.
“But this young guy making a breakthrough could be incredible if he continues to put in performances like that.
“He’s still got a lot to learn, but goalkeepers mature later on in their careers and I can definitely see a lot of promise in him.”
McCrorie’s contract at Ibrox runs until 2023.
He has also been called up to the Scotland national team but is yet to make his international bow.
