McLeish tips recall for Rangers player tonight after Hagi news
Alex McLeish predicts Connor Goldson will return to the Rangers starting 11 to face Lyon tonight after an injury update.
The former Gers boss, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, reacted to the latest on the centre back’s situation.
On Wednesday (15 September) Steven Gerrard confirmed Goldson is available to face Lyon tonight.
Speaking after the Gers’ win over St Johnstone at the weekend, Gerrard revealed Goldson was self-isolating and couldn’t put a timescale on his return.
Unfortunately for Rangers, Gerrard has also revealed Goldson’s weekend replacement, Filip Helander, has had surgery and won’t be available until December.
The St Johnstone game marked the first time Goldson had missed a minute of action in well over a year.

However, he is set to return tonight as the Gers face a challenge against a strong Lyon side.
McLeish claims Goldson’s small rest will have him chomping at the bit to return tonight.
“He will be hungry,” McLeish told Football Insider correspondent Adam Williams.
“Helander was in there and did really well by getting the winner against Celtic.
“But Goldson will be chomping at the bit to get back out there and back to the level he was at last year.
“I’m sure with that wee bit of rest I’m sure he will be raring to go.”
Goldson has been ever-present in Gerrard’s Rangers lineups since he joined the club in 2018.
He has so far made 162 outings for the club.
