Potential Celtic signing David Turnbull could pose a threat to the first team opportunities for the club’s fringe talents, says Jackie McNamara.
The former Hoops and Scotland ace, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, says the 19-year-old Motherwell ace could fit into an attacking midfield role where some of the most promising talents at Parkhead ply their trade.
Celtic confirmed via their Twitter account that although they have as yet failed to come to an agreement with the player’s agent, there is a contract offer on the table for Turnbull after agreeing a transfer fee with Motherwell.
Currently, we have been unable to come to an agreement with the player’s agent.#CelticFC is content that it has made a magnificent offer and it is now up to the agent and player to decide if the player wants to join Celtic.
If not, we move on. (2/2)

McNamara says that the attacking talents of Turnbull could pose a problem to the likes of 20-year-old Mikey Johnston and 19-year-old Ewan Henderson if he does sign, despite the latter of the pair having impressed the former Bhoy in his first team appearances.
“Celtic’s promising fringe talents are sort of in that forward area I would say,” the former Hoops ace told Football Insider.
“The likes of Mikey Johnston and I suppose the other one could be (Ewan) Henderson in there, at that position. He can play that position, we’ll see what happens with him because I thought he did well in some of the games last season.
“There’s a lot of competition. Although he’s (Turnbull) only had one season at Motherwell, breaking in, they obviously see the potential.”
Henderson managed to feature six times for the senior side during the 2018/19 campaign, four of those coming among the starting XI, while Johnston made 23 appearances across all competitions, scoring three goals.
In other Celtic news, it can be REVEALED that the club are convinced they’ve signed a “diamond” whose value will skyrocket next season.
