The left-back is expected to complete the move in the coming days and provide competition for Greg Taylor next season.

Bernabei was about to enter the final 12 months of his contract at Lanus and Celtic have taken advantage.

The Argentine defender has made 13 appearances for the Argentine club across all competitions this season and contributed one goal and two assists.

In total, he has four goals and 10 assists to his name in 85 appearances for Lanus.

Speaking to Sky Sports, South American football expert Tim Vickery heaped praise on Bernabei.

He said: “Bernabei has got that capacity to get into the penalty area and score goals.

“Nice left foot, good with set pieces, quick, interesting.”

The Argentina under-23 international is set to become Celtic’s third signing of the summer.
