Medical booked: Manchester United seal attacker deal after £26.3m fee agreed - report

By London correspondent Tony Hughes

Manchester United have reached an agreement to sign Henrikh Mkhitaryan for £26.3million from Borussia Dortmund, according to a report.

Sky Sports claim on their website that the 27-year-old playmaker will undergo an Old Trafford medical within the next week.

It is said he has already agreed personal terms with United after talks reached an advanced stage on Sunday night.

The signing of the Armenia international by United will be regarded as a major coup, as he is a player in demand after a sensational season that ended with him being voted the Bundesliga player of the year by respected German publication Kicker.

Mkhitaryan’s Dortmund contract expires in 12 months, which has prompted interest from a string of leading European clubs including Arsenal and Juventus.

The German club reluctantly agreed to cash in on the Armenian after they failed to persuade him to sign a new deal.

Mkhitaryan has had a brilliant season for Dortmund, scoring 23 goals and supplying an incredible 32 assists in 52 matches in all competitions.

In the Bundesliga alone, he scored 11 times and provided 20 assists from 31 games.
