Medical booked: Sheffield United agree deal to sign Nottingham Forest ace Joe Worrall – sources
Sheffield United have agreed a deal to sign Nottingham Forest defender Joe Worrall on loan for the remainder of the season, sources have told Football Insider.
The Blades have been keen to bring in a new defender before the transfer window closes on Thursday (1 February) and have now scheduled a medical for the 27-year-old after talks with Forest.
Worrall has featured sparingly for Nottingham Forest this term despite his status as club captain.
He has made just nine appearances totalling 544 minutes of action across all competitions so far this season.
He started the opening five Premier League games of the 2023-24 campaign but has not made a league start since September.
Worrall has notched 226 total appearances for Nottingham Forest and was a key part of their promotion via the Championship playoffs in the 2021-22 campaign.
He came through the ranks at the City Ground and signed his last contract in September 2023, keeping him at the club until June 2026.
But Sheffield United have now completed a deal to bring former England Under-21 international Worrall to Bramall Lane amid his lack of game time under new Forest boss Nuno Espirito Santo.

Worrall was just one of many names considered on transfer deadline day – with the Blades also interested in deals for Leicester’s Harry Souttar and on-loan Everton ace Mason Holgate.
Chris Wilder’s side sit bottom of the Premier League table on just 10 points after 22 games.
