A deal for Preston North End striker Jordan Hugill is imminent after he passed his medical at West Ham, according to a report.
Sky Sports on their Deadline Day show (Wednesday, 10pm) announced that a deal was “imminent” for the 25-year-old forward after the medical had been completed.
It was also reported that this would be the last player that West Ham would bring in in the January window – if the the clubs can get the deal over the line in time.
The official transfer deadline is 11pm although clubs can complete deals up until 1am.
The Sun had previously reported that Crystal Palace were the most likely side to sign the striker after agreeing an £8million fee.
However, it now looks like the Hammers have pulled off a successful hijack for the player.
If Hugill does complete his move it will be the first time that he’s played in the Premier League.
Football Insider verdict:
It looked like West Ham might run out of time to get this deal done, however, in last-minute drama it has been reported that the player has indeed passed his medical and the deal is imminent. West Ham fans weren’t overly excited about Hugill joining but he was in demand and will add even more attacking depth to a squad that needs goals. They could only manage a 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace last night and are suffering from injuries to their star attackers.
