Medical Insider: Boubacar Kamara back to square one after Aston Villa twist

Boubacar Kamara will be back to square one when he returns to full fitness at Aston Villa.

That is the view of medical expert Ben Dinnery, who runs the Premier Injuries site and has a background in injury and data analysis.

Birmingham Live reported earlier this week (26 October) that Kamara is ahead of schedule and could be available for Unai Emery’s first game in charge against Man United next month (6 November).

The 22-year-old suffered a knee ligament injury last month (16 September) but the Frenchman has received specialist treatment in Dubai and is now almost ready to return.

“The initial timeframe was that he was not going to be after until the World Cup and that was it,” Dinnery told Football Insider‘s Connor Whitley.

“The fact that he is at least a couple of weeks ahead of schedule is a positive.

“The difficulty is that he’ll have a new manager coming in who will demand his own strategy and his own gameplan.

“He’ll not only look at Kamara as a player and the injuries that he’s had but he’s adapting to the league. It’s almost as if he’s starting again with that reintegration into the squad.

“Working individually in a warm weather climate in the Middle East is completely different to when you return to the club and are fully integrated within the squad again.

“You factor in the 4-0 win over Brentford and [Douglas] Luiz and [Leander] Dendonckerplayed in a 4-2-3-1.

“Just because a player is potentially on the cusp of a return, there are no guarantees that they are going to be in and around that first-team squad.

“There are a lot of factors to consider but the fact he is nearing a return ahead of schedule can only be a good thing in terms of competition for places.”

In other news, Aston Villa are plotting a move to sign Queens Park Rangers’ star man.
