Wolves defender Danny Batth is due for a medical at Stoke City after cutting short his loan deal at Middlesbrough, Football Insider understands.
Batth is currently on a season-long deal at Middlesbrough from Wolves, but the Midlands giants have cancelled the loan early after agreeing a fee in the region of £3million with Stoke for the centre-back.
Wolves are willing to sell the big name as he does not figure in Nuno Espirito Santo’s long-term plans at Molineux and he has been given permission to hold talks and undergo a medical at Stoke today.
Stoke boss Nathan Jones has made defensive reinforcements one of his top priorities before the transfer window closes and he has identified Batth as one of his top targets.
Batth has struggled to hold down a regular place in the Middlesbrough starting XI since joining on loan, making only 13 appearances for Tony Pulis’ side.
Stoke are expected to be one of the busiest clubs before Thursday’s transfer deadline and Batth could be the first of several new arrivals for the Potters.
In other Wolves transfer news, it can be revealed the club are working on a deal to sign a £12million ace.
