Naby Keita is undergoing a Liverpool medical today (Monday) as he completes a sensational transfer to the club, according to a reliable journalist.

Times correspondent Paul Joyce has claimed on his personal Twitter account that the Merseysiders have agreed a club-record deal with RB Leipzig for the central midfielder.

Joyce reports that Keita, 22, will officially join Liverpool on 1 July next year after the two clubs reached an agreement.

Liverpool will not only meet the £48million release clause inserted in Keita’s contract, which comes into effect in the summer of 2018, but also pay an additional top-up premium.

It is set to bring to an end the Premier League giants’ summer-long pursuit of Guinea international Keita, who has been long earmarked as one of Jurgen Klopp’s main targets.

The dynamic midfielder had an outstanding debut Bundesliga season for Leipzig after signing in the summer of 2016.

In other Liverpool transfer news, the Merseysiders have tabled a fresh jaw-dropping bid for Monaco attacker Thomas Lemar in a fresh to sign him by Thursday.
