By Harry Sykes

Naby Keita is undergoing a Liverpool medical today (Monday) as he completes a sensational transfer to the club, according to a reliable journalist.

Times correspondent Paul Joyce has claimed on his personal Twitter account that the Merseysiders have agreed a club-record deal with RB Leipzig for the central midfielder.

Joyce reports that Keita, 22, will officially join Liverpool on 1 July next year after the two clubs reached an agreement.

Liverpool will not only meet the £48million release clause inserted in Keita’s contract, which comes into effect in the summer of 2018, but also pay an additional top-up premium.

It is set to bring to an end the Premier League giants’ summer-long pursuit of Guinea international Keita, who has been long earmarked as one of Jurgen Klopp’s main targets.
