West Ham midfielder Domingos Quina is undergoing a medical with Sheffield United, according to a report.
The Daily Mail claimed in their live transfer blog on Thursday [08:41am] that Quina, 17, is on the verge of signing for the Championship Blades on a season-long loan deal.
It is understood that the teenage sensation is in south Yorkshire and is poised to seal a last-gasp exit from the London Stadium on transfer deadline day.
Quina has three senior appearances to his name at West Ham but looks unlikely to build on that this season with the under-pressure Slaven Bilic in charge.
The Portugal Under-19 international is one of the most exciting players currently make his way through the ranks at the Hammers and his loan move to Bramall Lane will no doubt see him earn some much-needed first-team experience under the charge of Chris Wilder.
Quina’s most recent Irons appearances came against Cheltenham last week in the 2-0 EFL Cup win after he came off the bench in the final phases of the tie.
Football Insider Verdict
Quina has bags of potential and he will no doubt reach it if he gets enough first-team football. To be 17-years-of-age and getting into a Championship team shows just how good the midfielder really is as usually players that young are still playing Under-18 football or being shipped out on loan to League Two sides. At this rate, Quina could be playing senior football for the Hammers by next season. There’s very small chance of that happening this season due to the amount of Bilic is under to get the club back on the right tracks. There may be some more youngsters farmed out on Thursday.
