Michael Owen predicts Everton v Swansea clash

By Dominic Toner

Michael Owen has tipped Everton to suffer a defeat when they face Swansea away on Saturday.

The Toffees travel to the Swans for a Premier League clash and don’t have too much to play for as they look set for a seventh-placed finish this season.

Ronald Koeman will be delighted as he has sealed European football during his first campaign and may now be thinking towards improving his squad in the summer.

Meanwhile, Paul Clement’s Swansea side are facing a tough battle to avoid relegation and are currently two points away from safety with three games remaining.

Ex-Liverpool forward Owen has backed the Swans to pick up a much-needed win against the Toffees and backed both teams to score.

“Everton have never lost a PL game at the Liberty Stadium but that could be about to change with the Swans fighting for their PL lives,” Owen wrote in his BetVictor column. “As good as Chelsea were Everton were disappointing at Goodison on Sunday and they have now failed to score in their last two games.

“The Blues are reported to be interested in signing the Swans Gylfi Sigurdsson but in the short term, the Icelander can have a major say in picking up three vital points for the hosts.”

Everton’s biggest hopes in the summer will be to keep hold of their star players such as Romelu Lukaku and Ross Barkley.

Meanwhile, they will also be looking to improve their growing squad and Sigurdsson is a reported target.

The playmaker has been the standout player for the Swans this campaign and is expected to move on if they are relegated to the Championship.

Everton will be keen to keep a close eye on the attacking midfielder at the weekend and will be wary of his threat, with the Iceland international scoring 10 goals and suppling 12 assists so far.

In other Everton news, two senior players have been ruled out of the Swansea clash.
