Micky Gray has praised Leeds’ “excellent” performance during their 2-0 win against Brighton on Saturday evening at Elland Road.
Former Sunderland player Gray hailed Whites striker Chris Wood for his “absolutely fantastic” display as his team picked up a much-needed three points against their promotion rivals.
After a quiet opening, Wood brought the game into life when he opened the scoring in the second half followed by a successfully taken spot kick.
After the match, Gray delivered this verdict on his former club, who are hoping to finish the season in the top six under the highly-rated coach Garry Monk.
“I thought it was an excellent performance,” Gray told Football on Five. “The goals that they got from the big man [Chris Wood] up front were absolutely fantastic. He’s having an amazing season, but that’s down to the manager.

“They deserve to be where they are. When they get it right, it’s a special place.”
As a result of that win, the Yorkshire club are now eight points off second-placed Brighton in the Championship table.
Furthermore, Wood has taken his goal tally to 24 league goals for the season, currently more than any other player in England’s second division.
The New Zealand international has been a key figure behind Monk being successful in his debut season in charge of the club.
Wood has remained injury free for the majority of the campaign and suited Monk’s 4-2-3-1 formation which has seen them challenge for a place in the Premier League.
Heading into the international break, Monk and his team will be hugely confident that they can finish the season on a high with eight matches remaining.
