Middleton tipped to make a big impact at Rangers after new deal agreed - Hutton
Alan Hutton has backed Glenn Middleton to force his way back into Steven Gerrard’s thinking at Rangers with another loan at St Johnstone.
The former Gers defender, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, suggested the 21-year-old could put himself at the “forefront of everybody’s mind” at the Saints.
As reported by the Scottish Sun (June 28th), Rangers have agreed to send Middleton back to St Johnstone for the 2021/22 campaign.
Middleton spent the second half of last season with Callum Davidson’s men and helped them win the Scottish Cup.
He has two years left on his contract at Ibrox.
Hutton admitted while Middleton’s Rangers future is still up in the air, a good spell at St Johnstone would only help his cause.

Hutton told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “I do still think he’s at a crossroads in his Rangers career.
“Yes, he’s still very young. He burst onto the scene and it’s not quite worked out. He’s obviously found a home at St Johnstone under Callum Davidson who really likes him, he likes what he sees.
“Middleton was an integral part of them winning the Scottish Cup last season, he did well towards the end.
“Obviously Gerrard rates him, he liked what he saw at the start, he’s just not hit the heights quite yet. For him to stay in the league and play at a decent team week in, week out, Rangers can see him and monitor him.
“They can see how he’s improving week by week and I think it’s good for him. He’s not out of sight, out of mind. He’s there in the forefront of everybody’s mind, playing every weekend.
“If he hits the ground running, scoring goals and making assists, Rangers are there watching his every move. I think that’s a good situation for him to be in.
“Going back to a team where you’ve already done well only breeds that confidence. He’s got all the ability, he’s got the pace to cause teams problems.
“I think that is a great move from him to go back.”
