Midfield duo axed in Pochettino 4-2-3-1: Tottenham best possible XI to face Chelsea
COMMENT By Harvey Byrne
Tottenham will face league leaders Chelsea on Wednesday evening at White Hart Lane in a match where the north London side will be keen to put an end to the Blues’ winning run.
Spurs will need to be at full strength and fortunately for them it would seem that attacker Erik Lamela is the only player who will be missing from the encounter.
However, midfield duo Eric Dier and Son Heung-min should be chopped from the line-up which beat Watford convincingly in a 4-1 victory on Monday.
The South Korea international has struggled to hit consistent form after a purple patch earlier in the campaign, while Dier has failed to hit the same standards as he did in the last season.
This must see youngster Harry Winks and Moussa Sissoko come into the side for the pair.

It may be a surprise to not bring Moussa Dembele into the team, but he is too defensive, which isn’t what is needed at home in a match Spurs need to win to keep up with the top four.
Winks has proven this season already that he is good enough to perform consistently in the top flight and Mauricio Pochettino must now show his faith in the 20-year-old.
Two more changes are needed to the team who beat Watford with Jan Vertonghen and Kyle Walker returning after suspension, which sees Kevin Wimmer and Kieran Trippier dropping out.
Goalkeeper Hugo Lloris must keep his place between the sticks and he is one of several Spurs players who can prove the difference against Antonio Conte’s men.
He will be protected by a top four consiting of Walker, Vertonghen and star duo Danny Rose and Toby Alderweireld.
The Spurs defence is one of the best in the Premier League and they will have to ensure they are on top form against attackers Diego Costa and Eden Hazard.
In the midfield, Victor Wanyama should also be able to breakup the Chelsea attacks with the energy of Winks also helping Spurs to win the ball in key areas and getting up the pitch.
They will be looking to supply a forward three of Sissoko, Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen.
The Frenchman has built up a reputation for stepping up his performances in the big matches that are on TV, while Eriksen bagged a stunning strike in the reverse fixture at Stamford Bridge.
Finally, we see forward star Harry Kane upfront, who can prove to be the match winner in Wednesday evening’s clash.
Spurs have beat Chelsea just once in their last 15 clashes and they will be eager to put the bad record behind them on Wednesday.
