Celtic did something smart when it comes to transfers a short time ago – which isn’t always the case.
They cancelled the last year of Nadir Ciftci’s contract, and are allowing him to leave on a free transfer, as announced on the club’s official website.
That is one notorious flop of the Ronny Deila era gone, and it seems like only a matter of time before another leaves the Hoops – Scott Allan.
People might have forgotten after his up and down career but Allan was once one of the hottest properties in Scotland, with both sides of the Old Firm battling to sign him.
He eventually joined the Hoops in 2015 on a four year deal but former Hibernian boss Alan Stubbs once revealed, as reported by the Herald, that the player wanted to sign for the Gers, but the Easter Road side wouldn’t sell him to the Ibrox club,
Also, before he joined the Hoops, BBC Sport reported that he wanted to join the Gers.
With all that hoopla, it’s no shock that he has failed to impress at the Hoops, and has only recently began to show what type of player he is, in a loan move to Hibernian.
The main difference between Allan and Ciftci is that the Hoops could get some money for him, although not a lot as his contract only has a year left.
The outcome should be the same though as with the Turkish striker, and he should be out of the door by the time the season starts.
