Miguel Almiron could lead Newcastle United exodus after mega-money news – pundit

Miguel Almiron could lead a mass exodus from Newcastle United this summer, according to Kevin Campbell.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Arsenal and Everton striker claimed there will be a lot of suitors for Almiron if the club make him available this summer.

The 28-year-old’s agent told Versus Radio, via Chronicle Live, earlier this week (31 May) that his client will be going nowhere this summer unless his £60million release clause is met.

He claimed Almiron, who is under contract until the summer of 2024, is happy at St. James’ Park after ending the 2021-22 season in the side and playing well.

“I like him, I like Almiron,” Campbell told Football Insider assistant editor Dylan Childs.

“He’s a fit lad, he’s direct and got a really good left foot. He’s fearless, I think. He’ll be a good signing for somebody.

“We know Newcastle have got very deep pockets but they’re not just going to go ‘Crash, bang, wallop’. They’re going to slowly start upgrading their squad.

“It would be a really good signing for someone to take Almiron off their hands. I know there are quite a few players whose future will not be at Newcastle.

“Almiron is the one, I can see a lot of clubs after him.”

Newcastle

Almiron started nine of Newcastle’s final 11 games of the 2021-22 campaign and his goal in the 1-0 win over Crystal Palace was nominated for the Premier League goal of the season.

The Paraguay international has found the net 14 times and provided five assists in 123 games across all competitions since his move from Atlanta United in January 2019.
