Mikey Moore: Tottenham starlet’s development may need Rangers return as ‘unbelievable’ loan spell hailed

Mikey Moore has admitted that he would be delighted to return to Rangers on loan from Tottenham Hotspur next season.

The youngster has spent the season at Ibrox, initially struggling but finding superb form since the arrival of Danny Rohl.

Russell Martin was the Rangers manager at the start of the season, but he was sacked in October after a dismal start to the season.

Former Sheffield Wednesday boss Rohl has placed far more trust in Moore, and he has been rewarded by the forward.

Tottenham transfer chiefs will have a decision to make regarding the 18-year-old, who signed a new long-term contract at the start of the season.

Tottenham may need to make uncomfortable Mikey Moore decision

Following Rangers’ win over Aberdeen on Saturday, Rohl admitted that talks over Moore are ongoing with Tottenham.

The Scottish Premiership side are keen to see the 18-year-old stay at Ibrox, and judging by his performance on the weekend, it is easy to see why.

The England youth international took his goal well in the second half, finishing into the bottom corner and beyond the reach of Dimitar Mitov.

It was an energetic display by Moore, who took four more shots, created a chance and attempted five dribbles.

The winger made sure to keep up with his defensive duties, too, making a tackle and completing five recoveries.

It is fair to say that Rangers fans have fallen in love with the 18-year-old, and he is clearly enjoying his time at Ibrox, too.

In fact, given the incredibly tumultuous situation in North London, decision-makers may well decide to keep him there for the next year of his development, as a settled management situation is sought.

By the end of the season, Moore’s only route to top-flight football and European competition could be with Rangers.

Moore makes feelings clear on Rangers stay

Tottenham’s immediate thoughts will lie with what is better for Moore’s future. Given his long-term contract, there would be little danger in keeping the winger in Scotland for another year.

And with Rohl’s position at Ibrox likely to be secure for the foreseeable future, it could be a beneficial move.

“I’ve loved every single second I’ve been here, the club is special and special to me now,” said Moore after Saturday’s game.

“I’m just going to enjoy the next seven games and obviously I need to speak to people back home and you never know what can happen. I don’t know if there’s been much club-to-club contact yet but I know that people spoke to me and the people around me, so conversations are happening.

“I’m going to speak to people and just try and find the best solution for me. But this has been unbelievable and if it’s right for me next year, then I’d love to stay here, but we have to see what’s going on.”
