Mills claims Morelos value has plummeted after big Rangers development

Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos’ transfer value has plummeted as managers are starting to see him as a “liability”, according to Danny Mills.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Premier League defender delivered his verdict after the Colombian was handed a three-match ban for stamping on a Hibernian player.

The incident on Hibs defender Ryan Porteous went unpunished at the time but the Scottish FA handed him an extended ban retrospectively.

He scored the only goal in their triumph at Easter Road but was unavailable for their win over St. Johnstone in midweek.

The 24-year-old will also miss the trip to Hamilton Academical on Sunday and the game against Kilmarnock next weekend.

Asked whether Morelos’ discipline issues will reduce his potential transfer fee, Mills told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “Yes.

“Clubs and managers are always looking at and thinking ‘is he a liability? Is he too much of a risk? Is he going to cost us in those situations and scenarios?’

“He has to be careful to not push it too far.

“We keep saying he has to learn and learn quickly and it doesn’t appear as if he’s been able to do that so far.

“It’s a shame because he’s obviously a talented player and a good goalscorer. But he just has to keep his head under control.”

Morelos, who has long been linked with a move away from Ibrox, has scored 11 goals in 30 games across all competitions this term.

When he completes his current suspension, the striker will have missed 24 games through suspension during his Ibrox career.
