Heung-min Son will only leave Tottenham if Harry Kane secures a move away, according to Danny Mills.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Leeds United and England defender insisted Son was “destroyed” by their Carabao Cup final defeat and his will to win could see him quit Spurs.

Football Insider revealed Kane has told friends he is “hell bent” on leaving his boyhood club this summer and wants to secure a move to a Premier League giant.

Son and Kane have enjoyed a fruitful relationship on the pitch and Kane told Sky Sports it is because they get on so well off the field.

And Mills has claimed their relationship could be key to where he ends up next season.

He told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “I think he may well be looking to see what Harry Kane does.

“It just shows players want to win, players are always accused of ‘Oh, they’re just doing it for the money. They’re just doing it for this, they’re just doing it for that.’

“That emotion shows they want to win. They want a chance of winning.

“If they don’t feel they’ve got a chance of winning or a chance of competing that’s what destroys more than anything else.

“Son’s not thinking about the money, he’s not thinking ‘I haven’t got my bonus from the Carabao Cup.’ He’s thinking ‘We’ve lost again.’

“He will probably wait and see what Harry Kane does.”

Son and Kane broke Alan Shearer and Chris Sutton’s record of 13 goal combinations in a Premier League campaign earlier this season.

The pair have scored 36 of Spurs’ 56 Premier League goals this term.
