Danny Mills has been left baffled after it was revealed Jack Grealish would be open to quitting Aston Villa for Manchester City this summer.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-England and Man City defender claimed the attacker would only play 20 games a season for Pep Guardiola’s side.
Football Insider revealed last week Grealish has privately told friends he would be interested in the move as he is excited by the prospect of Champions League football and regularly challenging for titles.
But Mills has insisted he would only be a squad player at the Etihad Stadium.
He told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “Where does he play at Man City? I understand the attraction of Manchester City but where does he play?
“Phil Foden’s in there. Bernardo Silva’s in there. Kevin de Bruyne’s in there. Ilkay Gundogan’s in there. You’ve got five or six players for two spots.
“It’s about his ambitions. Does he want to go to City and play 20 games? Or does he want to go somewhere and score the goals and be the main man?
“Jack will have options; it just depends on what he wants. Whether he’s prepared to go to Manchester City and be part of the squad and have a chance of winning something. Whether he wants to go to a top-four team that are going to get in the Champions League and have more of an influence.
“He’s a great player and he will have options. He’ll have to make that decision.
“You have to be realistic and go ‘Do I just walk into a team that could have won the quadruple? Am I significantly better that I walk into that team already?’”
