Mills Exclusive: Ancelotti may rethink Jan transfer plans due to Everton duo
Danny Mills has been very impressed by the performances of Everton defenders Mason Holgate and Ben Godfrey at full-back.
The former England and Manchester City right-back, speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley, claimed the form of the duo will have Carlo Ancelotti rethinking his January transfer plans.
Instead, the club’s recruitment team are assessing all their options ahead of the winter window.
Mills has insisted the performances of centre-backs Godfrey and Holgate in unfamiliar full-back roles could mean they do not sign another full-back next month.
He told Football Insider: “I’m sure they’ll be looking at it but I have to say I think Godfrey and Holgate have done very, very well at full-back in the last few games.

“In the Chelsea game they were outstanding and I would have put them both up there for man of the match, they were superb.
“Two young lads playing out of position, which is never easy, and then to back it up again is superb.
“If they keep doing that they might just look at it and go ‘actually, we can get through this period before Seamus Coleman and Lucas Digne come back and if we need to we can use these players again in this position.’
“There are obviously players coming through the academy at Everton that they can use.
“I don’t think they’ll be in any particular hurry because if you bring in a player like Rojo who wants to play, is a big name player, is he going to be happy sitting on the bench most weeks? Probably not is the answer and that can have an adverse effect.”
