Danny Mills has tipped Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa to replace the suspended Kalvin Phillips with an “attacking” midfielder against Brighton & Hove Albion.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Whites and England defender suggested Brighton’s recent form will mean Bielsa will be confident his side can come away with three points on Saturday.
The Seagulls have not won in the Premier League since their 2-1 victory over Aston Villa on November 21 and they are now just two points clear of Fulham in the final relegation place.
Leeds United will be forced into at least one change from their last Premier League game against Spurs as Phillips picked up his fifth booking of the season in north London.
Asked by Football Insider who he thinks will replace the England international, Mills said: “It will be interesting to see what he does because Brighton are not in the greatest run of form themselves. They are struggling a little bit.
“It’s a great opportunity for Leeds to get another three points on the board and get that one step closer to safety and then go from there.
“It will be interesting to see who Bielsa goes with in this game, whether he goes a little bit more defensive with maybe a centre-half or whether he goes all out and gives an attacking midfielder the nod.
“He may well go more attacking. He’ll look at it and think ‘It’s a game we can definitely win, we want to be on the front foot.
“I’m surprised he’s not come out already and told us what he’s going to do already! That’s his usual form, he’s not shy of telling us his squad.
“Whatever he does play, I expect the performance level to be a lot better than it was against Crawley.”
