Mills fumes at 'ludicrous' Aston Villa reveal
It is “ludicrous” for the Aston Villa owners to consider whether Dean Smith is the right man to lead them forward, according to Danny Mills.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Leeds United and England defender insisted Smith should be given more time after the squad underwent a major overhaul this summer.
Football Insider exclusively revealed on September 14 the Villa boss will come under increased pressure if his side cannot pick up results before the October international break.
It is understood he is under real threat of being replaced if they do not climb from 12th-position.
Aston Villa face Everton on Saturday before away games against Man United and Tottenham.
They have only won one of their opening four games this term – a 2-0 win over Newcastle United at Villa Park last month.

Asked whether the club should be considering Smith’s position, Mills told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “No, they shouldn’t be considering it at all.
“You’ve lost your superstar, who was also your captain, a huge part of the club. You have to recover from that.
“You bring in four or five new players that take time to settle. No matter how good they are there’s always a bedding-in period.
“Villa, not the fans, the owners need to be patient. They will be OK, don’t get delusions of grandeur and start thinking about where you’re going to finish in the top four.
“Solidify that position in the top half or the top eight then kick on from there.
“It would be ludicrous to even start considering whether he’s the right man or not.”
