Mills: Gentlemen’s agreement may open door for Liverpool to sign Tielemans
Danny Mills has claimed Youri Tielemans would be a great signing for Liverpool – and a gentleman’s agreement could see a deal happen.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Leeds United and England full-back admitted it would take a “big, big money” bid to lure the Belgium midfielder from Leicester City.
Eurosport reported at the beginning of June that Tielemans, 24, has put contract negotiations with Leicester on hold until after this summer’s European Championships.

Belgian outlet Het Nieuwsblad reported on May 26 that Jurgen Klopp had placed Tielemans on a shortlist of potential replacements for Gini Wijnaldum.
“I think he’s a class player and he’s the right age for Liverpool,” Mills told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.
“He’s played international football, he’s got a lot of experience for a young player.
“He’s a very good, talented midfielder who’s proven it in the Premier League and not just other leagues.
“Yes, but I’m guessing Leicester are going to want big, big money for him.
“He’s got two years left on his contract which is still a long time. You’re not going to sit and do nothing for a year to push through a move.
“Leicester may say to him ‘Give us another year, then you can go.’ If there’s a deal to be done.
“Two years left, Leicester are still in a strong position to say ‘No, hands off.’
“They’ve got the money to offer him a new deal too.”

Tielemans, 24, scored nine goals in 51 games across all competitions this season – including a stunning winner in the FA Cup final.
He now has 88 Premier League games under his belt which have yielded 12 goals and 15 assists.
