Mills: Levy is ready for a ‘fight’ after Tottenham news
Tottenham chief Daniel Levy’s appointment to the European Club Association executive board could ruffle some feathers at Uefa, according to Danny Mills.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Man City and England defender hailed Levy as a “shrewd operator” and the right man to represent the Premier League’s interests.
The ECA confirmed earlier this week (September 7) the Spurs man had won a vote to take a place on the executive board.
He replaces Manchester United’s Ed Woodward who resigned his position in the wake of the European Super League debacle.
Tottenham, along with Man City, Man United, Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea all tried to quit the ECA earlier this year to join a proposed European Super League.
Levy fought off competition for Man City CEO Ferran Soriano to replace Woodward.
Asked whether Levy was a good choice for the role, Mills told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “Well you know he’s not going to back down!
“As long as he goes in with the right messages from the clubs, you know that he’s going to fight his corner.
“As long as he’s fighting for the right things, and that’s for the whole of English football and the Premier League, not just Tottenham, then yes, why not.
“He’s a shrewd operator, so it’s a good appointment and good luck to him.
“I’m not sure UEFA will particularly enjoy it.”

Levy has been Tottenham chairman for almost 20 years after he replaced Alan Sugar in October 2001.
The north London club have won one major trophy in that time – the 2007-08 Carling Cup.
In other news, the Tanguy Ndombele saga will end badly for Tottenham after a “very strange” update.
