Mills: Rangers sent 'get it done' warning over Goldson after major reveal

Rangers need to tie Connor Goldson to a new contract before his head gets turned, according to Danny Mills.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Leeds United and England defender insisted it is vital the centre-back feels he is part of the club’s long-term plan.

Football Insider revealed at the beginning of July Rangers are confident he will sign a new deal before the end of the transfer window.

Goldson’s current Ibrox deal has just 12 months left to run.

An agreement was almost reached in April on a new three-year contract before negotiations stalled.

Football Insider revealed on 23rd February that West Ham were keeping tabs on Goldson after his incredible form.

The 28-year-old did not miss a minute of league actions for Steven Gerrard’s side last season as they romped home to the Scottish Premiership title.

“Get him settled,” Mills told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“Make him feel a part of it because if they’re not they may start to think ‘Am I really wanted here?’

“You need the player buying into your project, buying into what you’re doing and your plan.

“So if Rangers want him to be there, get it done. If the club want him there and the player wants to be there, get it done because then everybody’s happy.

“Then you’ll have a content player who’s going to give his best in every single training session.”

Goldson has scored 16 times and provided five assists in 162 games across all competitions for Rangers.

The Englishman signed from Brighton & Hove Albion in the summer of 2018.
