Danny Mills has slammed Christian Eriksen as the biggest disappointment at Tottenham this season.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former England defender echoed the thinking of many Spurs supporters by expressing his dissatisfaction at the performances of the former untouchable.
Eriksen was once again omitted from the Tottenham starting XI today as they secured their fourth win in five games under Jose Mourinho by beating Burnley 5-0 at home.
The Denmark international was an unused substitute as a rampant Spurs swept aside the visitors through goals from Harry Kane, Lucas Moura and Son Heung-Min.
Asked by Football Insider to name the biggest disappointment at Tottenham this season, Mills was emphatic
“Eriksen, you know whatever reason, things have affected him and he hasn’t been near the
same sort of player that he was last season,” Mills told Football Insider.
“What happened to him? Maybe there are reasons for that, he didn’t get his dream move, but as of yet he hasn’t performed up to his usual high standards.”
Eriksen has not started any of the five matches since Mourinho replaced Mauricio Pochettino last month amid major doubts he will be at the club next season with his contract set to expire in June.
The attacking midfielder, 27, has made 17 appearances for the Londoners this campaign, but only eight of them have come in the starting XI.
In other Tottenham news, Paul Robinson has told Football Insider how ‘Spurs scouts are looking at signing’ brilliant centre-back who’s price tag rocketing by the week.
