Mills: Rodon may have big new Tottenham role after 'amazing' development
Joe Rodon could be handed a bigger role at Tottenham if he continues to have an “amazing” European Championship with Wales.
That is the view of ex-England and Leeds United defender Danny Mills, speaking exclusively to Football Insider after Wales qualified for the round of 16.
Rodon has not missed a minute for his country during the tournament as they conceded just twice in the group stages.
The 23-year-old made the move to Tottenham from Swansea City last summer for a reported £11million fee.
However, he made just 17 appearances across all competitions, including eight Premier League starts.
“Spurs obviously need to revamp their defensive situation, we all know that,” Mills told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“It will obviously depend on the new manager that comes in, who he fancies and what sort of transfer kitty he’s got.
“Wales are the underdogs, they’re playing with that freedom of having limited expectations. That doesn’t always happen in a Spurs shirt. It’s a different mentality.
“Whatever happens from here on in for Wales is a bonus. They’ve got through the group, amazing. If they get through the round of 16, amazing.
“At Tottenham, you’re expected to get into the top four. If you don’t do that then it’s a very, very heavy shirt.
“Undoubtedly he’s a good player. A lot will depend on how well the rest of the Euros goes for him and whether the new manager likes him.”
Rodon has played 17 times for Wales after making his debut in September 2019.
Rob Page’s side are set to face Denmark in the round of 16 in Amsterdam.
