Mills verdict on Leeds re-signing Ian Wright favourite after source's update today

Danny Mills has admitted he does not see Marcelo Bielsa handing Eddie Nketiah an opportunity to re-join Leeds United.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Whites and England defender suggested Nketiah did not do enough to impress Bielsa in his first spell at Elland Road.

Football Insider revealed on 5 June Leeds have been offered the chance to re-sign the Arsenal striker.

A recruitment source has updated that Mikel Arteta has given the green light to Nketiah leaving if the club’s £20million asking price is met.

Leeds are in the market for cover and competition for Patrick Bamford who started 37 of their 38 Premier League games this term.

Nketiah spent the first half of the 2019-20 campaign on loan at Elland Road but struggled to break into the side ahead of Bamford.

He ended his spell with five goals in 19 appearances across all competitions.

Asked whether Bielsa would want to bring the England Under-21 international back to Elland Road, Mills told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “I’m not so sure.

“He didn’t really do it for Marcelo Bielsa last time. I just look at it and I’m not sure.

“He’s had an opportunity and he didn’t really take it and I would be doubtful as to whether Bielsa would give him another opportunity.”

Nketiah opened up with an interview at the beginning of the season with beINSports about his relationship with Arsenal legend and mentor Ian Wright.

He revealed how advice from the Gunners hero had helped him both on and off the pitch.

In other news, a north-west club has opened talks to sign a Leeds United defender who can play in midfield.
