Mills slams 'appalling' Robinson for abusing privilege at West Brom

Danny Mills has slammed West Brom star Callum Robinson for his “appalling” decision not to take the Covid vaccine.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Leeds United and England defender called on Robinson to give a “reasonable and detailed” explanation as to why he remains unvaccinated.

As reported by Sky News (October 6) the Republic of Ireland international revealed he had not been vaccinated and insisted it was “my choice”.

That is despite the fact he has suffered from covid twice resulting in missing games for his club and country.

“I think it’s appalling,” Mills told Football Insider‘s Connor Whitley.

“Footballers were afforded a lot of luxuries during the first lockdown. I know they had to go back to work and work under certain conditions but they weren’t furloughed, they didn’t have to take wage cuts.

“They were allowed to carry on and had it better than everybody else. Therefore, they had a lot of extra privileges, exemptions and all these sorts of things. They were getting tested regularly.

“The best thing to do is to get vaccinated, all these experts have said it. Jurgen Klopp has said the best thing to do is to get vaccinated because the experts say so and he spoke to the doctors.

“If these players don’t want to get vaccinated, I think they should be asked the question ‘Why?’. If they can give a reasonable and detailed answer why when all the information is that they should be getting vaccinated then OK.

“If they have concerns then fine, come out and say that. If they’ve read all the information, read all the reports.

“I guarantee there will be players that haven’t had the vaccine that are taking tablets, jabs and doing whatever they are told to do and not once have they question what they are taking and why. The club doctor, the sports scientist has said ‘You’re doing this’. I bet nobody questions it, they get on with it.”

In other news, West Brom could be set for a “huge blow” after an injury update.
