Mills: Struijk tipped to be axed by Leeds after confirmed team news
Danny Mills has claimed Liam Cooper will replace Pascal Struijk in the Leeds United starting XI against Tottenham.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Whites and England defender insisted the club captain will be desperate to put in a good performance as Marcelo Bielsa assesses his centre-back options ahead of next season.
Cooper has missed Leeds’ last three games through suspension after being sent off against Manchester City last month.
Struijk has partnered Diego Llorente in his absence while Robin Koch was deployed in midfield against Brighton last weekend.
Speaking at his press conference ahead of the visit of Spurs Bielsa refused to be drawn on how his defence will line up.
“The thing is at the moment, Leeds are so safe,” Mills told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“That now doesn’t come into it. They don’t have to worry about that, it doesn’t come into their thoughts.
“If there are in any sorts of issues whatsoever they can just take their time and wait. That’s what they can afford to do right now.
“Cooper probably will come back in for Struijk. I guess the decision is who is going to be the centre-back partnership next season?
“All these players are fighting for places for next season as much as anything else.”
Struijk has performed well in his last three games and has recorded a pass completion rate of 88.3 per cent, as per wyscout.
The 21-year-old now has 23 Premier League appearances under his belt this season, including 20 starts.
