Mills tips Newcastle to quadruple Koulibaly's wages in astonishing deal after source reveal
Newcastle United could quadruple the wages of their top transfer target Kalidou Koulibaly, according to Danny Mills.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Middlesbrough and England defender warned Newcastle not to overindulge on signings and be left with a squad of ageing players on exorbitant wages.
A club source told Football Insider (October 9) the Saudi-led new regime wants to make Koulibaly their first marquee signing.
The Senegal captain, who has long been regarded as one of the best defenders in the world, is their top target.
He is currently under contract at Napoli until the summer of 2023 and turned 30 in June.
“You’ve got to entice these players to come that other Premier League clubs haven’t been able to do,” Mills told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“Are you going to quadruple Koulibaly’s wages?
“Do you end up in a Middlesbrough situation back in the day with Emerson, Paul Gascoine, Merson, Fabrizio Ravanelli, Juninho? What happened to Middlesbrough? They got relegated.
“If you bring in players on a five-year deal and just quadruple their wages because that’s the only reason they come then you’ve got to make sure you get the right characters.
“They’ll be a few of those who go ‘Job done, thank you very much, that’s me with my feet up’.”
Koulibaly has played 292 times across all competitions for Napoli and has won the Copa Italia with the club.
The centre-back has started the season in fine form and was named as Serie A player of the month for September.
