Mills: Tottenham squad will be in awe as Nuno alternative emerges
Steven Gerrard may be tempted by the Tottenham job and would demand “massive” respect from the dressing room.
That is the view of ex-Leeds United and England full-back Danny Mills, speaking exclusively to Football Insider as Spurs’ hunt for a new boss enters the 11th week.
Football Insider revealed on 25 June Nuno Espirito Santo had agreed personal terms with the club but there were still issues to be ironed out.
Turkish outlet Radyo Gol reported yesterday (27 June) the Portuegese is also the favourite to take over at Fenerbache.
The London Evening Standard reported on 25 June Gerrard is also on the club’s radar.
“It shouldn’t be a problem for Gerrard,” Mills told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“I said all along that there was no reason he couldn’t take the Everton job and now the Spurs one.
“He’s been in management now for three seasons, he’s got Gary McAllister and Michael Beale with him up there and if they were to come with him then it could be a good avenue to go down.
“This is not a Ryan Mason job where you’re bringing somebody out of the youth teams with zero experience.
“Steve Gerrard would walk into the job and the players would be like ‘Oh yeah, this is a player who was top class and I’ve got massive respect for him. Hang on a minute, also massive respect to the job he’s done at Rangers.’
“Then you’ve got Michael Beale who is a well-known coach at Chelsea, Liverpool and then obviously Rangers. Gary McAllister another name with a lot of experience.
“You’ve got that instant respect from the players and gravitas to make decisions.
“Steven Gerrard has got to go somewhere at some point and it may not be Liverpool.”
