Mills: Tottenham told to complete Tomiyasu signing after talks update
Tottenham should wrap up a deal for Takehiro Tomiyasu “sooner rather than later”, according to Danny Mills.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Leeds United and England full-back insisted a new centre-back should be Nuno Espirito Santo’s top priority.
Football Insider revealed today (16 July) a total agreement for the deal is close and those involved are confident Tomisayu is joining Tottenham.
Spurs have offered Bologna a £15.5million fee, including add-ons, for the defender.
This site revealed on 2 July Tomiyasu has his “heart set” on a move to north London.
The 23-time Japan international is able to operate at centre-back and right-back.

It is understood Spurs are also keen to add another centre-back this transfer window.
Football Insider revealed at the beginning of the month they are prepared to lock horns with Everton in the race to sign Conor Coady.
Nuno is a huge fan of the Wolves captain and mentioned him as a priority target during negotiations with Spurs.
Asked whether Tottenham were right to sort their defence with the signing of Tomiyasu, Mills told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “Definitely.
“They need to get that done before anything else. We know that’s the issue.
“The Harry Kane issue is ongoing and we have to wait and see what happens with that.
“But defensively, Tottenham need to get that sorted and sooner rather than later.”
Tomiyasu has played 63 games for Bologna across all competitions since signing in the summer of 2019.
The 22-year-old made the switch from Belgian outfit Sint-Truidense for a £9million fee.
