Milner tipped to start for Liverpool v Man City after training today - pundit
Danny Mills has tipped James Milner to replace Trent Alexander-Arnold at right-back for Liverpool against Man City.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-City and England defender insisted Milner “ticks all the boxes” and will be able to cope with Jack Grealish on Sunday.
As quoted by the Metro today (October 1) Jurgen Klopp revealed he had four options to replace the injured Alexander-Arnold.
The Reds boss claimed Milner, Joe Gomez or Neco Williams could fill in and he may even change the system in which his side line up.
Asked who he thinks will start against the Premier League champions following the final pre-match training session today, Mills told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “For one or two games, I think he will go with Milner.
“He’s got his experience, he never lets anybody down, he’s superb in that position.

“You can play him there for three or four games without a problem. If you had to have him in there for a season there would be one or two questions in the long term. In the short term, there is no better replacement than James Milner.
“He’s going to work hard, he’s going to stop the opposition. He’s confident, he’s good on the ball. He ticks every single box you’d want from a replacement.
“He’s played in every single position on the box apart from as a goalkeeper.”
Milner has started just two Premier League games so far this season.
In 2021, the 35-year-old has only featured from the start on nine occasions in the top-flight.
