Milos Kerkez reveals what Andy Robertson told him after taking his place at Liverpool

Milos Kerkez has praised Andy Robertson despite the two battling it out for the left-back position at Liverpool.

The Hungarian international has started in all five games so far in the Premier League for Liverpool, since his move from Bournemouth in the summer.

Liverpool had a long-standing interest in Kerkez after his rise into the side last term, helping the Cherries achieve their highest Premier League points tally in their history.

He has instantly become Arne Slot’s left-back option, despite Kerkez struggling so far at Anfield and facing early challenges, including being substituted off in the first half against Burnley.

After Robertson had started in the Champions League tie against Atletico Madrid, he was later dropped for the Merseyside derby. Despite the competition, it appears that the new signing and Liverpool legend have been working together since his arrival.

Andy Robertson has helped ‘push’ Milos Kerkez at Liverpool

Despite taking his position since making the move to Anfield, Kerkez has revealed that the relationship is “good” and that he has helped him adapt to life at his new club.

He said: “Before the [Everton] game, he motivated me, he told me: ‘Go outside and do your thing that you were doing last season.’ So he gave me a bit of a push. Then after the game, he congratulated me and told me that I should keep going like that” [Paul Gorst via Liverpool Echo]

The Scot clearly still plays a crucial role in the side, as Liverpool made the decision to select Robertson as vice-captain for this season, showcasing the influence he still holds despite the arrival of Kerkez.

Football Insider reported in June that Liverpool were initially ready to listen to offers for Robertson, but since then, the hierarchy have made a U-turn.

Liverpool to make Andy Robertson contract decision

Robertson has been previously linked with a Liverpool exit.

While an exit may have been explored earlier in the window, the Scotland international could be set to remain at Anfield for the foreseeable future.

Football Insider revealed Liverpool are exploring a new contract for Robertson to avoid him leaving the side on a free transfer.

This comes after it was reported that Robertson and Kerkez will be rotated for Liverpool across the season.

Even though the Hungarian has started most games, competition for the left-back position remains, with Robertson continuing to guide and support his younger teammate as he settles into life at the club.
