Milos Kerkez to Liverpool: ‘£60m Bournemouth update as Andy Robertson nears end’

Bournemouth left-back Milos Kerkez would be a “perfect fit” for Liverpool amid Andy Robertson’s situation, Tim Sherwood has suggested.

The Hungarian has produced some brilliant performances for the Cherries this season to help them mount a push for European football following an excellent run of form.

That has already seen him touted for a move to Anfield this season, and Sherwood believes that could be a good move for all involved, as he feels Robertson is no longer at the peak of his powers.

The former Tottenham manager though has suggested that Liverpool would have to pay a sizeable fee in order to secure the services of the 21-year-old.

When asked on Sky Sports Soccer Saturday what he likes about Kerkez as a clip of the left-back’s goal against Newcastle was shown, Sherwood said (1:30pm): “I think he’s good, he’s very strong, he’s got a good pace he times his runs very well getting forward. If he could chip in with a few more of these he’d be worth £60million.

“But he looks like he could play for a top side and I wouldn’t be surprised seeing him at Liverpool, Andy Robertson’s coming towards the end a little bit so I think he’d be a perfect fit for them.”

Milos Kerkez a sensible signing for Liverpool

Things have not gone as well for Robertson this season who has looked as solid as he has done in the past, potentially suggesting Sherwood is right his time at the top might be coming to an end.

As a result Liverpool may well be in need of another option at left-back who can be first choice in that position as they look to compete for trophies.

Kerkez’s performances in helping Bournemouth challenge for Europe during the current campaign certainly suggest he is capable of filling that role.

He could therefore be a very good option to take over that role in Arne Slot’s side, with the fact he is nine years younger than Robertson something that could help them long-term as well.

But given how many positive attributes he possesses, it is unlikely Kerkez would be a cheap signing for Liverpool to make.

Whether or not they do pursue could therefore be seen as a message to supporters about the ambitions of the owners for the club going forward.
