Mohamed Salah could now sign for Chelsea as ‘huge’ Liverpool claim made – pundit

Liverpool may be forced to sell Mohamed Salah to a Premier League rival this summer.

The former Leeds United stopper, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, about the attacker’s chances of staying at Anfield.

Salah, 30, has just 12 months remaining on his deal at Anfield after last signing terms in July 2018.

According to The Athletic‘s James Pearce (1 June), the attacker will leave Liverpool next summer unless he receives a “significantly improved” contract offer.

That report also claimed the Egypt international would like to remain in the Premier League if he does leave Liverpool.

Kenny claims Liverpool may have no option but to sell Salah to Man City or Chelsea

“I’m sure they won’t want to [sell to their rivals],” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“Ideally they would try and push him abroad. It’s just one where we have to wait and see what happens.

“Real Madrid and Barcelona were always mentioned but can you see Salah going there now with their financial problems?

“Man City and Chelsea have the money to sign him, that’s certain. So if Liverpool make that huge decision to cash in on him then they will have to sell to one of those teams.

“That makes that side a lot stronger and it weakens Liverpool so that is less than ideal for them.

Salah finished as Liverpool’s top scorer in the 2021-22 season, bagging 31 goals in 51 total outings.

He has now scored 156 goals for the club.
