Mohamed Salah set to sign new deal after 'huge' Liverpool development - pundit

Paul Robinson has claimed a new deal for Mohamed Salah would put Liverpool in their “best position for years”.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs and England number one suspects Jurgen Klopp’s “huge” contract extension could get an agreement over the line.

On Thursday (28 April) Liverpool announced Klopp and his staff had put pen to paper on a two-year contract extension.

The ex-Borussia Dortmund manager and his staff are now under contract at Anfield until the end of June 2026.

The club remain in contract negotiations with Salah ahead of his current deal’s expiration in the summer of 2023.

When asked for his thoughts on the timing of Klopp’s renewal, Robinson told Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs:

“This has obviously been bubbling away in the background for a while.

“This is another huge positive for Liverpool right now. To have the manager and the staff committing to another two years is fantastic. Why would they not want to with the squad they have got?

“A couple more trophies and a new contract for Mo Salah and Liverpool are in the best position they have been in for years. I think Klopp signing an extension could have an impact on the Salah negotiations.”

Salah has registered a staggering 30 goals and 14 assists across all competitions this season.

His contributions have helped keep the Reds on track to complete an historic quadruple.

In other news, a finance guru has claimed Liverpool have banked £68million and could soon land a £4m bonus after ‘huge’ development.
