Mohamed Salah makes Liverpool transfer decision – sources

Mohamed Salah is in no rush to leave Liverpool before 31 August despite interest from Saudi Arabia, sources have told Football Insider.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke has explained that Saudi clubs remain keen on a deal, but Arne Slot is determined to keep his star man at the club.

Sources say Liverpool are braced for the possibility of a Salah offer in the closing stages of the window but he will not agitate for a move.

This comes shortly after former Everton CEO Keith Wyness told Football Insider that Liverpool should take a £100million offer if it arrives in the remainder of the window.

Slot has been impressed by Salah’s pre-season performances and is keen to work with him during his first season at Anfield.

Mohamed Salah to stay at Liverpool despite Saudi Arabia interest

Since arriving at Liverpool in 2017, Salah has made 349 appearances, scored 211 goals, and won the Champions League, Premier League and Club World Cup among multiple domestic and individual awards.

The winger was the main man at Liverpool throughout Jurgen Klopp’s time at the club, but remains just as important during the transition period.

His performances have been impressive while Slot has implemented his new system during pre-season, and the boss has been impressed by the levels he has shown.

Salah’s preference would be to remain at Anfield for the rest of the season before making a decision on his future closer to the end of his contract.

However, he has been heavily linked with a move to the Middle East since before the transfer window opened as clubs look to make him the latest statement signing.

Saudi Pro League clubs have already signed the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema and N’Golo Kante, and want to add Salah to their list of superstars.

The Egyptian is considered the dream transfer for the Pro League’s reputation, and with just one year left on his deal at Anfield, it remains on the cards.
